BBS Co-Sysop,

As bulletin board systems grew larger and required more to maintain them, the system operators brought on unique users and sometimes friends into helping run the every day operations of the systems.

These people where called Co-Sysop's given unique powers online in the system that most normal users wouldn't have had. They might have been simply responsible for verification of uploaded files, possibly user verification to name a very few...

Generally they where simply there to help, they had a superior knowledge of computers and attributed to what a bulletin board system became. The Sysop set the theme, but the taking on a Co-Sysop was a task in itself, they could create or break a online community like tossing the keys to
your business to someone that you had no idea what direction it could take.

They are a important facet in bulletin board systems, beyond the term "user" these where a name given, handed out lightly and by far not "common place"...

The ones given the name of Co-Sysop, of the very few where trusted with the name of the hobby of BBSing that was select to only a few...
A name not tossed lightly for Sysop's of the day... Co-Sysop was given to those they had a passion for computers only the Sysop could also say...
With the wrong Co-Sysop, it wasn't even a fire the Sysop could put out... It wasn't a name just handed out...
